Natural Ways to Clean Your Baseboards

When was the last time you cleaned your baseboards? We know it’s been a while. Baseboards are one of the most common things forgotten when cleaning your home. If you have white baseboards, it reveals even more dust. So how do you clean your baseboards without ruining them? Our housekeepers in Willis, TX, share a few natural ways to clean your baseboards

Pro Tips for Cleaning Your Baseboards

Cleaning baseboards can be like a daunting project. Don’t worry. There are plenty of efficient ways to clean your baseboards. Our cleaning company in Willis, TX, likes dusting the baseboards. It’s much easier than washing them. Don’t forget to vacuum afterward! We suggest cleaning your baseboards before your normal vacuuming and moping day, so it doesn’t create extra work. If you want to divide rooms up and do half one day and half the next, it cuts the workload in half! Now that you know when you should be cleaning your baseboards, we’re sharing our favorite natural cleaners to make your baseboards squeaky clean.

Look for a soap that is free of dyes, artificial fragrances, and chemicals. Our friends at Tureks Plumbing, a residential plumbing company in Appleton, WI, agree that of you don’t have one at your fingertips, you can also replace the favorite dish soap that you will use for hand washing dishes. This cleaner can be used on both painted and wooden baseboards.

Your Favorite Soap Based Cleaner

  • 4 cups of warm water
  • One tablespoon of CASTILE or DISH SOAP

Optional: Add 1-2 drops of lemon or your favorite essential oil

In a dish, combine the ingredients together. Use a barely damp microfiber rag, a bar mop towel, or a well-wrinkled sponge, scrub as you go, rinse your cloth or sponge regularly. You may need to turn water and soap out as you go, depending on how dirty your baseboards are.

Your Favorite Vinegar Based Cleaner

  • Three teaspoons of white vinegar
  • 16 ounces of warm water

Optional: Add 1-2 drops of lemon or your favorite essential oil

This is perfect for extra dusty baseboards or baseboards in a kitchen that have a little extra oil or grease built up – the vinegar is going to be sliced right through that. You can spray it carefully directly on the baseboards or, my choice is to spray it on the cloth and then spray it and wash it, rinse the cloth as you do.

A Crowd Favorite: Baby Wipes

Another way to clean the baseboards is with baby wipes. This choice isn’t exactly an eco-friendly recommendation since you’re using disposable baby wipes, but it works and is great for kids and their nimble knees. We love that the amount of liquid is regulated, so you’re not going to have a bucket of water or puddles everywhere. It’s great for adults, too, since it’s the fastest of three and doesn’t require much planning. Just clean it off, turn the cloth over as you go, so you can use it for a little while. Some of our favorite baby wipes are from Honest
